Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (COPE) is excited to be growing and expanding its partnerships and initiatives. Starting this year, this sister organization of Partners In Health (PIH) will begin work outside of the Navajo Nation. Specifically, COPE will support local partners in Rosebud to help strengthen the health care system of the Sicangu Lakota Nation, whose 27,000 members live on the 2,000-square mile Nation in southern South Dakota. The expansion is an innovative example of collaboration between two strong Native communities and a quiet endorsement of COPE’s unique, culturally attuned approach to improving health
